This is a system designed to safeguard the occupants of a home where a solid fuel fire is working alongside mechanical extract ventilation including mechanical ventilation and heat recovery (MVHR).
The flush mounted control unit fits discreetly into the wall and is activated by heat in the flue whenever the fire is lit. It continues to constantly monitor the difference in air pressure between the flue and the room while ever the fire is burning. If at any time the pressure differential is not enough to guarantee adequate clearance of the flue products, the unit will automatically shut down the extractor fan(s) thus returning the room to normal atmospheric pressure and allowing the natural flue draught to be restored.
A handset is available so that the user can monitor the status and settings of the unit.
The system is suitable for most wood burning appliances, can be connected to flue sizes between 150mm and 250mm and will work with a maximum sensing hose length of 10m.
Note- Correct and safe operation of the fire must always be confirmed by a competent person during commissioning regardless of whether or not a safety device is to be employed. See approved Document J of the UK Building Regulations.
