MAUVIEL M’STEEL USE AND CARE INSTRUCTIONS
Black sheet metal is a good conductor of heat: it rises in temperature very quickly.
Ideal material for searing, browning and grilling, not very adhesive, it allows you to cook with very little fat.
Steel sheet offers the advantage of giving taste and enhancing flavours.
Due to its rapid conductivity, it is not suitable for simmering.
SEASONING:
Prior to first use, clean the pan with very hot water to remove the beeswax from the entire pan. The beeswax is used to prevent the pan from rusting and to save time when seasoning.
If at first use, you notice any waxy residue, use a paper towel to wipe your hot pan clean.
Before first use, you will need to prepare your pan so that it becomes completely non-stick. To do this, pour a drizzle of oil on the bottom of the pan and fry gently. When the oil starts smoking, throw it out, and wipe with kitchen paper, do not wash. Repeat the operation, several times, so that the interior is fully non-stick.
Always heat your pan first, before adding any oil or grease products.
MAINTENANCE:
After cooking, wash the pan in hot water, wipe with a soft sponge and dry thoroughly. Do NOT use washing up liquid and do not remove the black layer which forms at the bottom of the pan, it will make a solid film and create a non-stick surface.
Prior to putting away your utensil, grease it with a little olive oil, it will prevent rusting.
Your pan will serve you for many years.
To clean the steel on the exterior of the frying pan, you can use a mix of bicarbonate of soda, and water, to restore its shine. However, ensure the mix does not touch the inside of the pan.
NOTES:
The pan will darken with use, creating a naturally non-stick surface.
WARNING:
Do not overheat your M’Steel pan. It is liable to twist and warp under prolonged high heat.
